The maps in this section were collected by Margery Perham throughout her working life. Some were first used in her travels as a Rhodes Fellow, some were given to her by Lord Lugard to assist her in her work and resemble those found in his collection of papers, and some were provided by the secretariats of the countries she visited, studied, and wrote about. They are, therefore, of varying dates and kinds, often being mere sketch maps or diagrammatic representations. The first four boxes hold maps of the British Commonwealth in general and of Africa and are arranged in the same territorial sequence as that of the Territorial Section of the papers; the fifth holds maps of non-African territories.
