This section is by far the largest part of Margery Perham's archive and material for the individual regions and territories is, as far as possible, arranged in the same order in all the sub-sections.

Each sub-section begins with one or more boxes of material relating to the continent in general (e.g. Africa), then to a region (e.g. West Africa), after which material for each territory within the region appears in alphabetical order of the name of the territory at the time that Margery Perham first studied it (e.g. Basutoland rather than Lesotho). The last sub-section consists of material collected on other empires, the American, Belgian, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Russian.

Within a single territory, the arrangement begins with Margery Perham's more personal correspondence about that country, with people living or working there, and about the organisation of any visits she may have made there. Since her prime interest in any country lay in its administration and its constitutional and political development, any papers with a direct bearing on those matters follow next, often beginning with a small amount of correspondence. Source material for her study of other topics, such as agriculture, education, health, and race relations, follows in an alphabetical sequence. Although press cuttings may be found with the material on each topic, at the end of each territory division or regional sub-section, there are files of press cuttings that sometimes fill several boxes.

Each day, Margery Perham scanned the major newspapers, marked items she considered significant for her work, and asked her assistants to cut them out, date them if necessary, and file them according to her own subject order. Sometimes these were mounted on duplicating paper and given a numerical order. Colonial Office fact sheets and other press releases on each territory, together with mimeographed texts of commentaries in the BBC series 'From Our Own Correspondent', were treated in the same way. Her subject order has been retained, although the cuttings have been transferred from her dilapidated concertina files to archival folders. In the concertina files, they had become considerably disarranged; within the archival folders, their chronological order has been restored.
