Card register of BM and BM BCh graduates: A-M, c.1884-1949

 File
Shelfmark: MS. University Archives ME 31

These cards are of an older (smaller) style than those in MSS. University Archives ME 21-30. It is possible that these were the first cards used for the University Medical Students' Register from 1913 but which were then superseded by the larger cards used in MSS. University Archives 21-30. It is not clear whether the cards for earlier students were compiled retrospectively or not. It is possible, owing to the amount of post-Oxford career information they contain, that some earlier cards were compiled retrospectively for alumni purposes. The Oxford Graduates Medical Club (from 2000, Oxford Medical Alumni) was founded in 1884 which may explain the start date of the register. The cards include the following personal information: name, college, address, hospital, Oxford degrees, other qualifications, and 'posts and distinctions' (i.e. later careers). Some cards are crossed through and annotated to indicate the individual has died. Earlier graduates also have a card in the main register at MSS. University Archives 21-30.
