The first of three scrapbooks compiled by Francis Glynn, dating from his time as a student at Merton College, Oxford and as a soldier in the Second Boer War during the 1890s. It mainly covers amateur musical and dramatic events in Oxford (including programmes of 'Mr E.F. Glynn's Band'), Tewkesbury and various places in the West Country and the North East, with two photographs of mounted infantary at Aldershot, as well as more general ephemera.
