Decree by a papal delegate in a cause relating to the abbey of St. Bennet of Hulme, near Norwich, [c. 1368]
It refers apparently to some violent proceedings on the part of bishop Thomas [Percy], William de Blythe [archdeacon], William de Swynflete, and others, against the abbey, which was occupied by their armed men for two days, with great damage.
The date may be gathered from mention of the nave of the church being destroyed by a tempest, viz. the great storm in Jan. 1368.
The document is so rubbed and defaced that it is throughout difficult to be read, and in some part illegible.

Custodial History
It is probable that this document does not really belong to the Rawlinson collection, but is one of the many more or less mutilated Hulme charters appropriated or saved by bishop Tanner out of the episcopal records when he was chancellor of the diocese.
