"Controversie the 2, against an universitie man, viz. Mr. Richard Astley; by N. C. R.". Astley was then a fellow of All Souls’ college, and was afterwards warden.
The tract is in the form of a "Conference or dialogue" between him and his sister, a Roman Catholic, Mary Hatton, living at Walton, in letters that passed between them.
Signed, at the end of some verses which form the conclusion, "Finis, quoth L. C.".
