On the last page is written in large lettes, "Charity Orchard call'd me son of a ..., ye 28th of November, 1735. Witness, Patience Orchard. By Thomas Gifford and Sarah Newton".
The volume may date from the time of George II in view of the royal arms found in the binding and because the first leaf is headed with an Indian-ink sketch of the arms, with the crown supported by two angels.
