Relating to monastic bodies; classified (as marked by parchment labels projecting from the volume) under 'Abbeys', 'Moniales', 'Monasteries', 'Hospitals', 'Anchoritae', 'Heremitae', and 'Templarii', with others concerning confessors, the Minorites, etc.

The papers are pasted upon some of the leaves of a copy of an edition of the Opera of St. Bernard, edited by Jo. Gillotius, and printed at Antwerp in 1620.

The contents include the following:

  1. (fol. 4b) i. Memorandum by John Choate, dated 22 March, 1666, of an agreement for payment of £7 11s. 9d. by Stephen Remball of Rattlesden to Henry Copinger of Buxhall, besides certain tithes, etc.
  2. (fols. 539–542) ii. Injunctions for readers ("MS. temp. Prince for protectn. etc. (sic), No. 38, fo. 228"), and for preachers (two sets, one dated 4 Aug., 20 Jas. I, 1622).
  3. (fols. 543–4) iii. The presentation by the Protector Richard of John Phillips to the rectory of Agmondesham, alias Amersham, Bucks, and the admission of Phillips by the Commissioners for Public Preachers, Jan. 11 and 26, 1658.
  4. (fol. 576) iv. Insert here of No. xliv of The Englishman for Jan. 12–14, 1714, containing a copy (from Rymer’s Foedera) of the commission issued by Q. Mary I for the deprivation of married clergy.
