A theological common-place book, including some notes from sermons, 17th century
The following are the chief contents:—
- (fol. 29) i. Short account of Mahomet.
- (fols. 31-35) ii. Account of the caliph Almanzor.
- (fols. 36, 41) iii. Notes from sermons by bishop Jeremy Taylor in 1661.
- (fol. 43) iv. "Out of Mr. Stillingfleet’s sermon before the Parliament after the dreadfull fire in London, 1666".
- (fol. 49) v. "Part of a sermon [on St. John v. 14] preached by Dr. Cotton".
On the outside of the parchment cover is this note, which refers only to a part of the contents: "Annotata quaedam ex Augustino aliisque Patribus".
On fol. 55b this note: "Simon Leach, Gualteri militis filius et haeres, obiit desideratissimus Junii 22, 1660".
