A collection of autograph signatures, chiefly English, cut from from various books by Thomas Rawlinson, in two volumes: Vol. I, 15th-18th century
In alphabetical order. Many title-pages of the books bearing the autographs of owners are interspersed; with regard to most of the other signatures Rawlinson notes whence they were taken, and occasionally adds brief particulars of the writers.
Amongst the names are, Lanc. Andrewes, while apparently an undergraduate, and spelling his name as "Androwes"; "Gulielmus Cecilius, 1551"; "Thomas Cantuarien.", to which Thomas Rawlinson adds the note, "This was our Birmicham martyr Cranmer"; two of Dr. Donne; three of Ben Jonson; one of archbishop Laud; and one of "Lauderdaill, Windsor Castle, 14 Oct. 1658".
The autographs were found loose amongst the Rawlinson MSS. in small paper packets, alphabetically: they are now mounted, and were bound in two volumes about 1862.
