A treatise on tribulation, 16th century
In thirteen chapters. Chap. I. "From whence all tribulation came att the first to mankind".
At the end: "Thus endeth the first booke of one Antho. Hemert concerninge the chastesmente of God. 20 Sept. 1575". Probably a translation of book I of Hemertius’ Paraclesis afflictae mentis sive de patientia servanda.
On the back of the last leaf: "William Clements, Hingham, 1628".
The old tattered parchment cover, now bound up with the book, is part of a grant of a tenement in Lynne Episcopi by Richard Cokson, 23 Hen. VIII (1531–2), in which, in the boundaries, mention occurs of the gild of Corpus Christi.
