In two parts; entitled "The benefit of affliction, or the prisoner’s sacred and civil exercise; in the one whereof he converses with God by meditations and prayers, in the other he converses with the world by imaginations and thoughts; by T.S., D.D.".

The first part contains Sunday meditations from 25 Aug. to 24 Nov. 1650; the second, daily week-day reflections from 23 Aug. to Dec. 30; with two indexes of subjects.

The paper for 23 Aug. begins, "This day I was committed to prison by the l. president of the Council of State for the common-weale of England".
