The letters (copies, very badly written) are described as follows by archbp. Sancroft in a note on fol. 1: "This book conteins several letters written [in] the year 1677 to the Provincial of the Jesuits by Mr. Edw. Turner of the Jesuites coll. at Holbeck, being bitter complaints and invectives against He[ton], who had been F. Rector there for 3 years befo[re]. They mention a large narrative of all his cri[mes], but yt is wanting. Yet even these letters discov[er] many of their practises, and their great animosit[y] one against another. He accuses Heton for wench[ing], and Heton him for drinking, and each the other for ignor[ance]. Mention of the Duke often made and their dep[en]dance on him; as also of a congregation to be held [in] London in April 1678 to chuse a new Provincial".
