Apparently by three hands.
- (fols. 1-2, 88-90, 96) i. Notes of a few epigrams, verses, etc. Amongst them, inscription over the praetorian hall at Zante; Latin lines on the Buxton waters by Mary, Q. of Scots; epigram on pope Clement VIII; the last stanza [of Rich. Lovelace’s Lines to Althea]; "a medicine for the rickets". The copy of Lovelace’s lines differs from the printed text, in running as follows: "Stone walls doe not a prison make nor iron barrs a cage, / The spotlesse soule and innocent calls that an hermitage, / /He that hath freedome in his wishe (?) and in his soule is free, / Angells alone that serve above know no such liberty" (first hand).
- (fol. 4) ii. Three sermon on St. Luke ix. 23, dated Feb. 8, 1623 (second hand).
- (fols. 38b-69) iii. Notes out of the ecclesiastical histories of Eusebius, Evagrius and Socrates.
- (fols. 2-6 [volume reversed]) iv. An alphabet of Latin moral, proverbial, and epigrammatic sayings (third hand).
- (fols. 7-25 [volume reversed]) v. Notes, theological and historical, from St. Augustine, St. Jerome, William of Malmesbury, and others.
