Notebook of the Latin translation of words in Lucian’s Dialogues and in Hesiod, with notes also of some Latin phrases, early 18th century

At fol. 30 is an "Evening prayer", and at the end are copies of a few letters, as follows:—
- (fol. 80b) i. Proposing an appeal to the Visitor of the college (bishop Trelawney) in the case of a disputed election to a scholarship [in 1713].
- (fol. 82b) ii. To his "good neighbour", Mr. Vaughan, whose son had not been elected.
- (fol. 83b) iii. To Mr. [Robert ?] Mitchell, a fellow, on the same matter.
- (fols. 84b-85, 90) iv. To the Visitor.
Prefixed to the volume is a letter to Rawlinson from Rev. Francis Wise, dated "Bodl. Libr. Jan. 23," mentioning that the writer is Mr. Cudworth, and giving a short account of him as having "kept a Latin school for young gentlemen," and that the appeal (which was dismissed) was against the election of "the present bishop of Llandaff" (John Gilbert).
