(fol. 14) i. A letter from Sir Philip Sidney to his brother Robert, Lord Lisle, "shewing what course was fittest for him to hold in his travails".
(fol. 17b) ii. "The effect of that which was spoken by the Lord Keeper (Sir Francis Bacon) at the taking of his place in the Chancery, in performance of his majesties charge given him when he receaved the great seale of England on 7 March, 1617".
(fol. 23) iii. Speech by Lord Keeper Williams in the Chancery, 9 Oct. 1621, the first time of his sitting in that court. Hacket in his Life of Williams, 1693, p. 76, says that this speech "is laid aside by some negligence, the more is the pity, that it cannot be found".
(fols. 27b, 30) iv. Bacon's "Advertisement touching a holy warr, written to Lancelot Andrewes, bishop of Winchester", and "The history of the holy warr". This copy ends at the words, "invite some other choice. But before I proceed etc.; p. 126, vol. vii. of B. Montagu's edition of Bacon's works. The copyist then adds, "He left this discourse imperfect".
(fol. 34b) v. Sir W. Raleigh's letter to Prince Henry touching the model of a ship.
(fol. 36) vi. Bacon's epistle to K. James concerning a digest of the laws of England.
