From charges of his using indecent language and expressing opinions of supposed Romish tendency in several sermons, and also with regard to complaints of his using the bidding prayer instead of extemporary prayer before preaching; for the former of which he had been suspended by the archbishop of Canterbury.

With a letter prefixed "For Dr. Hoddy [Hody], chaplain to his excellence my lord of Canterbury," signed "the suspended minister of Richmond, A. B.", and dated by him.

The name of the writer has been ascertained by search in the parish registers of Richmond to be Abiel Borfet.

The writer mentions that he had appeared in print 34 years before under the name of Irenaeus Freeman, referring to a tract printed in 1661 under this pseudonym with the title, "Λογική λατρεία: the reasonableness of divine service".

The handwriting is large and clear.
