The sermon is said to have been published with a preface by two bishops: "the learned world still riseth up in reverence to the great author’s name." But all attempts to identify it and the writer for the purposes of this catalogue have as yet failed.
Hawes’ preface deals with the disputes in his time between the bishops and the Lower House of Convocation.
