The first of these letters contains some marginal notes by dean Hickes, from whom a letter to Hawes is inserted at fol. 49, thanking him for the use of the papers, and desiring that they may be revised, and transcribed for communication "to our brethren, if there be occasion." The letter is addressed to Hawes, "at his house neer St. Jameses house".

Of Hawes’ second letter there follows at fol. 90 a first copy, with corrections, which is dated 20 Feb. instead of 10 March.

At fol. 82b Hawes inserts a copy of a letter from Hickes, "the rev. d—n of W———r [dean of Windsor], to the rev. Mr. H—rt" [Hart], dated Oct. 23, 1708, upon the course to be pursued on the death of the last survivor of the deprived bishops, bishop Lloyd of Norwich, and at fol. 85 "a copy of the foregoing letter enlarged by the author".
