In a minute contemporary hand, with many contractions.

The handwriting in its minuteness resembles that of Hooker himself, but is at once shown not to be his by the occasional addition in brackets of corrections such as these: "for w[hi]ch [such?] institutions", "relious [religious]", "ligitious [litigious]", which show that the writer copied a MS. which had some doubtful words. The word 'are' is always written "r", and "ň" stands for 'not'.

Paragraphs 4–9 of chap. vi follow chap. viii, as in all the existing MSS. This copy appears generally to coincide with the MS. cited as Q. in Keble’s editions, which is in the library of Queen’s college, Oxford.

Bibliography

  • A copy of the last section in the old editions of the eighth book of Hooker’s Eccl. Polity, beginning at ❡ 10, chap. vi of the later editions. What forms chapter vii in the recent editions is omitted.
