Couched in terms as abusive; he never saw or corresponded with Dr. Shippen, and Mr. Hammond denies having said what is alleged; the assertion that he called Welton’s wife a jilt is a direct lie; Tom Ross had the forty shillings for Howell which he never paid, and also had the tables, which were remarkable, being plain black without checkers on the outside, the men white and red ivory; "send me no more of your Billingsgate stuff".
