Signed by Sir Thomas St. George, Garter, and Greg. King, Rouge-Dragon; upon occasion of the installation of the earl of Devonshire, 23 Apr., and duke Schomberg, 14 May, 1689.

Endorsed with this curious note in King’s handwriting: "My folly in undertaking what I could not perform hath done the King great prejudice, which yet cannot be stopt any other way than this. May his undertakings prosper, may he have a blessing. Wednesd. p. m. circa med. Apr.".

The note evidently has no reference to the paper, nor is there anything in King’s autobiography (printed in Dallaway’s Science of Heraldry) to explain it, unless it be the delay in the publication of the narrative of the coronation of James II.

[From Corrigenda et addenda: The note in Gregory King’s handwriting has no reference to King himself, but is a copy of the note left by John Temple when drowning himself at London Bridge, in April, 1689.]
