- (fol. 60) i. His explanation and qualification of language used in a book written by him and sent to secretary Windebank, respecting the oath of allegiance, after conference with Roger Widdrington [alias Preston]. Delivered by him, a prisoner in the King's Bench, to Widdrington, 24 Nov.

- (fol. 61) iii. Letter from Widdrington to Courtenay, objecting to the last clause and to exceptions made by Courtenay; 26 Nov.
- (fol. 62) iv. Declaration by Courtenay exculpating Widdrington from any agreement in his objections to the oath of allegiance, and acknowledging himself to be much beholden to him "for his generouse and noble offices"; 7 Dec.
- (fol. 64) v. Extract, in Latin, from a declaration explanatory, sent by Courtenay to Windebank, 6 Dec.

The title of the book to which these papers refer does not appear to be known, as it is not given in any notice of Courtenay.
The papers are copies, with the autograph signatures both of Courtenay and Widdrington, and the signature of a witness, Ralph Whistler, servant to Sir John Lenthall, attached by some other hand.
