Copied by Michael Maittaire, who has added the following note at the end: — "Permittente domino barone de Hoendorf, descripsi hunc codicem ex autographo biblioth. serenissimi princip. Eugenii a Sabaudia. Ce MSt. coutient 287 pages: il est en 4to, large ecriture. Il m’a ete preté par (blank) 1734, Sept. 16."

The extracts furnish additional passages which are not found in the second copy described below in MS. Rawl. D. 532, fol. 13, together with variations.

The tract is not a translation of the little book printed under the same title with the fictitious date of 1598, but the French work properly entitled "Esprit de Spinoza," enlarged from six chapters into twenty.

Of chapters XII-XVII, Maittaire gives only an abstract, remarking that they "sont tirez mot pour mot des Trois Veritez par Charron, de la Sagesse par le meme, et des Considerations sur les coups d’etat par Naudé."
