Received his letter dated on Christmas Day. Thanks him for his charity to the King’s suffering subjects. A design prepared by some of the garrison of Courtray to carry off the English King or some one of the French princes from St. Germain’s very nearly succeeded, but they took by mistake for one of the princes Mons. Primier who was in one of the King’s coaches; it is reported that they have been all stopped and taken in Picardy, and five were taken in this town last night, where they had been for 12 or 15 days.
