The contents [relating to Wilson] are as follows:—

  1. (fols. 1b–2) i. Notes from the first advertisement in Boccalini’s News from Parnassus, of the merchandise of politicians.
  2. (fols. 6-23) ii. Diary of the despatch of letters of state from 12 Feb. 1605/6, to 18 July, 1607, with occasional brief notes of affairs.
  3. (fol. 29b.) iii. Draft of a letter to the King presenting him with a book compiled from the relations of English ambassadors in various countries.
  4. (fol. 31) iiia. A memorandum dated 21 Feb. 1627 [–8] about entreating the king for money due to Wilson.
  5. (fols. 32–5) iv. Patent of Henry Mountague, afterwards visc. Mandeville, as lord treasurer, with account of his admittance to office 24 Dec. 1620 and surrender 30 Sept. 1621.
  6. (fol. 36b) v. Draft of letter of congratulation to Edw. lord Barret, afterwards earl of Newburgh, on his appointment as chancellor of the Exchequer; 30 July, 1628.
  7. (fols. 38–40) vi. Draft of letter to Ley, earl of Marlborough, lord high treasurer, presenting a "great" book on the ways used by the kings of England to increase the revenue; 20 June, 1625.
  8. (fol. 41) vii. To Ley, earl of Marlborough, lord high treasurer, sending, by his desire, an abridgement of the same "great" book; 6 March, 1627.
  9. (fol. 45) viii. "A declaration of the office of the high tresurer of Scotland".
  10. (fol. 49) ix. "A declaration of the generall tresurer’s office in Spayne".

  23. (fol. 2 [volume reversed]) xxii. Draft of a letter to the earl of Somerset, presenting him with a chronological summary of the most memorable things from the Creation to "this year, 1614".
  24. (fols. 8, 18 [volume reversed]) xxiii. "Breef partitions [i.e. heads] for understanding and remembring the cheef heads and points of state and goverment", and "especially according to the constitucion and lawes of England".

At fols. 62b–4, Thomas Raymond has written drafts of two letters applying for the place of controller of the customs at Lynn Regis. A memorandum by him at fol. 4 mentions his parting from the court to go to Gravesend in Oct. 1632.

Custodial History

The name "William Glynn" is written on the cover, and Wilson’s name is written on both the first and last pages of the volume, which afterwards was in possession of one Thomas Raymond and used by him.
