Inserted at fol. 9, before the beginning of the notes on charms, is a charm in French and English, said to have touched the heads of the Three Kings of Cologne, to which this note is appended: "This paper was found in the pocket of William Jackson, of the Romish religion, one of the smuglers who in 1749 was condemned for the murder of Will. Galley, a Custom-house officer".

This volume very probably belonged to Richard Gough rather than to Rawlinson. Delafield’s MS. Oxfordshire collections are among Gough’s MSS.
