The first five stanzas of the satirical poem by Richard Corbet upon the entertainment of the King at Cambridge in 1615. See Nichols, Progresses of James I., III. 66.
[Meddus matriculated at Exeter college in 1619 at the age of 16.]
A hand of the last century has written on the first page of this volume that it contains "juvenile collections of the famous Joseph Mead." This is certainly entirely erroneous. The writing does not resemble his. and in 1618 he was B.D. and aged 32; and although he Latinized his name as 'Medus' he does not appear to have ever used the form 'Meddus'. The notes are evidently those of a very young man or lad such as the Joseph Meddus of Exeter college was in the year 1618.
On the blank leaves of the volume another hand has made many trivial insertions.
