A rough first copy (in some disorder and not perfect, with additions inserted on attached slips of paper).

All attempts to trace the alleged Latin original, the author or the translator, have as yet been unsuccessful.

The second volume is chiefly in English, and deals for the most part with the New Testament, and the quotations therein from the Old Testament. It contains the following articles:—

  1. (fol. 175) i. Title and outline of contents. "The undeceiver, or natural religion proved to be the only one given by God to men, and sufficient for their salvation ... Done from the Latin into English by H. Theophilus. Vol. 2. Amsterdam, printed in the year 1726. This volume is divided into two chapters; the first, of the 2nd part of the Bible in general, and things relating thereto; the second, of the 2nd part of the Bible in particular, and things belonging to it".
  2. (fol. 174) ii. "Preface to the reader". Beg. "The author of this work having a very great experience of this world".
  3. (fols. 1-173) iii. Chapters 2–12 of the second volume. Chap. 2. sect. 1. "Of contradictions".
  4. (fols. 180-290) iv. "The liturgy of the religion of God, or, the order of divine service to be observed in the Church of God every Sunday morning throughout the year; at the end of which is set a catechism, with the articles of faith necessary for everlasting salvation. Printed at Amsterdam in the year—(blank)". A deistical adaptation from the Book of Common Prayer, with a preface. In the Litany, K. George [II], Q. Caroline, Frederick prince of "Whales" (sic), the princess, and their issue, are prayed for; the date is therefore after 1738. Fols. 270 b–290 contain portions of Psalms i-xcii in metre, selected for twenty-three Sundays.
  5. (fols. 292-368) v. Chapters 2–5 of the first volume, in French. Beg. imperfectly at the words, "de David étoit abominable à Joab".
