Respecting the question, "In case of the death or cession of all our [i.e. the nonjuring] bishops, whether we and those of our communion should join ourselves in communion with those who now possess the bishopricks"?

The papers were written in 1706–8, and in the year 1707 Higden, who had previously been a non-juror, took the oaths.

When these papers were brought to light in the year 1861 (see Annals of the Bodl. Libr. 1890, p. 236), they (like many other volumes of miscellaneous papers) were found tied up in a brown paper parcel. Slips cut from the paper covering which contain endorsements of the contents are now bound up in the volume.
