The accounts are of the churchwardens, or "praepositores ecclesiae" or "kyrke masters" and are in good preservation and very legible.

The accounts for the years 1485, 1487–9, 1492, 1494, 1500, 1502–6, 1509, 1513–7, and 1520, appear to be missing, but in the earlier part there are several portions which are undated, and which probably may be found to fill up some of the apparent deficiencies.

The entries of payments for burials, obits and lights at funerals can supply the absence of a burial register as being a record of deaths.

The church was consecrated in 1490, the accounts for that year including the particulars of a feast given at the "halloynge of ye chyrche," amongst which are, "pro expenses of Corpus Christi day, xiiij d," and "payd to ye soffrygane v marc. xx d.".

The payments in connection with the bells are numerous, and are met with in every year; they were rehung by Rich. Sehok of Nottingham. "Handbells" are mentioned in 1534.

Besides the "hy awter" the following altars are mentioned: St. Nicholas, "Owr White Lady," and St. Katherine.

In 1495 there is the following entry: "Payd for makyng of a hengell to ye kyrkeʒate, xiid.".

"Owyr Ladey qwere" is mentioned, and there was a guild of St. Thomas, and also Our Lady’s Guild.

"Sir" Christopher Crosley was vicar in 1499, and in 1501 (then "magister") he becomes one of the churchwardens. In 1524 "mayster doctor Hygtone" was vicar.

There were these lights in the church: the Sepulchre light, the All Souls’ light, St. Stephen’s light, the May light of "Dowdykhend, " the May light "of Fysmarhende," the "Hognars"or"Hoggeners" light, the "Plowght" or "Ploy" light, and the common or town’s light.

A silver pyx, a vestment of white damask for the altar of Our White Lady, and "onne vesture callyde one coyte to owre qwhytte lady," etc., were received in 1531 as a legacy from Thomas Robertson, esq., of Boston.

[From Corrigenda et Addenda: Eleven additional leaves, carrying the commencement of the accounts back to 1461, were found in MS. Rawl. D. 1480, and were restored to their place in this volume, in July, 1897.]
