Containing certificates, for the most part weekly but occasionally at longer intervals, of the receipts from sheriffs of counties, from dioceses, and from cities and towns, with abstracts of payments.

The first page is headed with the name "Brooke;" i.e. John Brooke. The top corners of the first six leaves are injured by damp, and fols. 5, 11, 12 and 35 have been partly torn out.

Among the regular payments are those to the King’s messengers, for the paymaster of the works, etc. Frequent entries occur of payments through Ant. Burlamachi and Philip Jacobson to the Princess Elizabeth, once to the King of Bohemia, and on 17 Jan. 1622/3 £100 to Mr. Jacobson for the Palatinate.

At fol. 10 there is a payment of £50 to John Bonnell for silk-worms, and at fol. 14 of £200 to Sir Patrick Murray "for pease and lintelles for his ma[jes]ties deere".
