MSS. Rawl. D. 573-578 are written by one hand; uniformly bound in French calf, and lettered, in vols. i—iii, "Recueil de plusieur[s] pieces," in vol. iv, "Recueil de pieces," and in v, vi, "Recueil de divers pieces." Formerly marked in some English bookseller’s catalogue (Osborne’s?) "6 vol. £ 5 5s."

Notable entries in each volume, as distinct from the general narrative of affairs, are listed.

Miscellaneous poetical pieces are interspersed at fols. 159, 260, 311 b, 321 b, etc.; and some lines on the last two leaves in the handwriting of the writer of the marginal notes in MS. Rawl. D. 576. Among the latter are notes on the battle of Ramillies, 23 May, 1706, verses "touchant le marechal de Tessé," and "vers sur les affaires du temps 1709."

Many entries in MSS. Rawl. D. 575-578 are cited from a journal called "Lardon," and some from the "Journal Historique".
