Household account-book of expenses of lord keeper Egerton in 1596–7, as kept by his steward Morgan Colman, 1596-1597
On the outside of the parchment cover is written: "A booke of all my receites and disbursementes from the eleventh off June, 1596, vntill the thirteth off December, 1597." The accounts, however, begin actually at 11 July.
A note by E. Umfreville, describing the book, is pasted on a fly-leaf.
The weekly accounts are dated sometimes at the Rolls and sometimes at York House, and are signed "Tho. E. C[ustos] S[igilli]," but occasionally by his wife "Elizabeth Egerton."
