The complaints of many of the persons fined are included, with particulars of distresses; and about 90 affidavits from churchwardens and parish constables, chiefly in the city of Exeter, that there had been no proceedings taken during their time of holding office in their respective parishes.

The commissioners were Hugh Westlake, Nich. Boson, Nath. Tyderleigh, Tho. Bampfield, Tho. Jefford, Jo. Southcote, Thos. Spurway, G. Chudleigh, Rich. Burthogge, Hen. Watts.

At the end are two similar returns relative to Ratcliff and Colchester, and a petition to Will. III from Nicholas Stevens for the post of Customer at Plymouth in 1689.
