  1. i. the improvements made in navigation by knowledge of the earth’s dimensions.
  2. ii. the improvements in astronomy caused by the telescope.
  3. iii. the measuring of the earth and the methods for determining the magnitude of a degree.
  4. iv. the theory of the planets.
  5. v. the doctrine of proportion.
  6. vi. (in another hand) light and its refraction.
