"The man of honour at Court; or a short essay uppon the qualifications of a courtier fitted for the present age", late 17th century
A dedication, signed D. C., is prefixed "to the right honourable the Lord of Dover, etc.," as one who has "secur’d everlasting fame," and whose virtue has won "the heart of the best and greatest King uppon earth." It would seem from the date of the MS. that the person here commemorated must be Hen. Jermyn, created baron Jermyn of Dover in 1685, who followed James II. into exile in France.
Written in a formal scribe’s hand, with notes and corrections by another hand.
