A vindication of the writer with reference to some charge of misdealing with a sum of £6000, and general ill-living, for which his father on his death-bed refused to leave him his blessing with the rest of his children; consisting principally of reproaches against his brother and sister for their unkind behaviour, and of general observations on prosperity and adversity as tokens of God’s favour or displeasure, and on the law of charity.
Prefixed (fol. 5) is a coloured drawing of a stone-cutter engraving an inscription ("Attendite vobis") on a tablet, with the motto "Scribit in marmore laesus;" and at the end (fol. 276) a coiled serpent, with the motto "Sicut ad extremum vivit."
