One or more leaves are wanting at the beginning of the volume, which commences with the words, "the Infanta imediatly after the getting of the dispensacion bee delivered, this next spring, as is the intencion of his Majestie." Fols. 7b–49 contain the earl’s replies to 20 interrogatories put to him in 1624, which are printed in the Hardwicke State Papers, 1778, vol. i. pp. 494–522; fols. 49b–67b, the separate paper first printed by Mr. S. R. Gardiner in vol. vi. of the Miscellany of the Camden Society, 1871, pp. 1–29; fol. 70, his answer to the duke of Buckingham, printed ibid. p. 30; fols. 71b–134, for the most part in Rushworth, vol. i, between pp. 237–302.

The narrative ends, "wherein hee euer honorably and impartially delivered his opinion according to his conscience. Finis."

On a fly-leaf Thomas Rawlinson has written, "This MS. I have preserv’d carefully ever since itt came into my hands, and paged. T. R." His pagination shows that the leaves now missing were missing then.
