He mentions his Water-Music, his having written songs, etc.; his having a pension; his accidental missing of various legacies and gifts intended for him by Dr. Thompson, Mr. Hill "now Lord Hilsborough," Lord Drogheda, the late Duke of Portland, and Mr. Dorman. His sister’s name was Mrs. Thurman. He gave a benefit-concert in the Town Hall, Greenwich, 5 Sept. 1728, which was not very successful.

At fol. 13 a note from W. Acton addressed to Mr. John Baptist Grano is pinned to the leaf; there is no doubt therefore that this musician, mentioned by Burney, Hist. of Music, IV, 646, 648, as an English amateur trumpeter and fluteplayer, is the writer of the volume. He is called 'Granom' in Fetis’ Biographic des Musiciens.
