The earlier letters (fols. 1-22) are concerned chiefly with the published book; the later ones contain Milner's general criticism of the draft of the second volume, The Reconstruction of the New Colonies under Lord Milner 1902-1905, published by Kegan Paul in 1913. Comprises:
- (fols. 1-5) correspondence about a letter from R.L. Borden, Leader of the Canadian Opposition, to Mrs Hanbury-Williams, commenting very favourably on the book, 15-17 Jan 1907
- (fols. 6-8) letter from Gordon about an appointment, 26 Jan 1907
- (fols. 9-11) letter from Milner covering a cutting (not in the file) from the Natal Mercury, 23 Feb 1907
- (fols. 12-15) letter from Milner about favourable comments on the book and Worsfold's craftsmanship, and the hurried conditions in which the book had been produced; also, extracts in Worsfold's hand from The Times of 15 Apr 1898 and The Outlook of 22 Apr 1898 about his earlier book, The Story of South Africa, 26 Feb 1907

- (fols. 26-34) correspondence about an article in the Morning Post on 'Retrenchment of Transvaal Officials', and a draft and cutting of Worsfold's reply to the Editor, 24 Sep 1907
- (fols. 35-46) letters from Milner about delays in enabling him to place his papers at Worsfold's disposal at Sturry, the first mentioning the Tariff Reform League, 14 Jan and 3 Dec 1908
- (fols. 47-48) card from Milner about Worsfold's 'reconstruction of the old house', 22 Jan 1909
- (fols. 49-69) eight letters from Milner about plans for Worsfold to visit Sturry. There is a reference to Worsfold's purchase of a house in Kent (Romden Place, Smarden), 7 Feb-8 Aug 1909
- (fols. 70-71) card acknowledging receipt of Worsfold's manuscripts, 30 Aug 1909
- (fols. 72-78) letter thanking Worsfold for two sketches, one of Sturry, and commenting in general terms on the draft of the second book, 20 Sep 1909
- (fols. 79-88) three letters from Milner about plans for Worsfold to visit Sturry, the last one referring to the political situation, 29 Sep-8 Nov 1909.
