Secret Registry: 'Congo' and other Secret files:

Files MSS. Welensky Papers 258/4-259/2 and 260/4-5 are extracts; MSS. Welensky Papers 259/3-260/3 are complete. The parties to the correspondence and messages comprise the Federal Prime Minister, the Secretaries of State for Foreign Affairs and for Commonwealth Relations, the High Commissioners in London and Salisbury (Harare), the Minister for Rhodesia and Nyasaland Affairs, Washington DC (1962), and, occasionally, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The Federal Government was represented by a vice-consul (P.R.H. Davis) at the British Consulate in Élisabethville (Lubumbashi). His reports, etc., to the Secretary for External Affairs in Salisbury (Harare) (Parry) are included as are copies of (UK) Foreign Office telegrams (Léopoldville/Élisabethville) passed to the Federal Government.
