Sorensen, MP, on similar lines, in answer to their enquiries concerning the Gambia Newspaper Ordinance and False Publications Ordinance, referring to the Governor's despatch explaining the reasons for their enactment, 3 Apr 1944
- (fols. 7-19) letter from S. Alph Riley and T. Basil Jones, Chairman and Secretary, Mass Meeting of Citizens, Bathurst (Banjul), to the FCB, about the protest against the two Ordinances mentioned above, with copies of four relevant papers and of a letter from E.F. Small to Lord Swinton dated 12 Apr 1944 about the food situation in the Gambia, 30 May 1944
- (fol. 20) letter from Rita Hinden to Councillor Simeon Riley, Bathurst (Banjul), in reply to the above, with excerpts from Hansard giving two Parliamentary Questions, (1) by Creech Jones on the enactment of the two Ordinances, and (2) by Sorensen on the position of food supplies, and Stanley's replies, 15 Aug 1944
- (fols. 21-57) letter from Small to Rita Hinden about complaints of injustice to Mohammad Bahammed Faal, cattle contractor, with copies of related papers. There is a second set of these papers with a covering letter from Small addressed to the Parliamentary Labour Party, London, 10 Jun 1946
- (fols. 58-61) correspondence about the above case, including a letter from Rita Hinden to Small with copies of two letters from the Colonial Office, and letters from Small to Rita Hinden and Sorensen, 2 May-26 Jun 1946
- (fols. 62-67) correspondence between Small, Chairman, Gambia Labour Union, and Hilda Selwyn-Clarke about the visit of his niece to London and the case of Mrs Alice Brown, a retired nurse, 13 Sep-3 Dec 1955.
