Colonial Development: Co-operative Project - Papers of Arthur Creech Jones, 1943-1959
Co-operative Project: papers of Arthur Creech Jones, Chairman, Joint Working on Co-operation. Many of the papers are annotated by him (see also MSS. Brit. Emp. s. 365/14).
Project for the study of Co-operation in the Colonies: correspondence and copies of papers prepared for the Joint Working Party (FCB and Co-operative Union).
The project for the study of Co-operation in the Colonies was undertaken in 1957 by the Fabian Colonial Bureau in collaboration with the Co-operative Union. The intention was to produce a successor to the booklet 'Co-operation in the Colonies' by Marjorie Nicholson, published by the Co-operative Union in 1952 (see MSS. Brit. Emp. s. 365/35, folder 2), but this plan was eventually abandoned. There is some duplication in the three boxes of papers produced for the Joint Working Party (MSS. Brit. Emp. s. 365/57-59). Additional correspondence connected with the Project is filed in MSS. Brit. Emp. s. 365/60; see also MSS. Brit. Emp. s. 365/61, folder 1, fols. 34-35 and MSS. Brit. Emp. s. 365/84, folder 4, fols. 200-201.
