The first two letters are to Rev. F.C. Johnson, about the departure of the Rajah for Sarawak accompanied by Charles Johnson, the efficiency of John Brooke Brooke's government of Sarawak, and St John being regarded as a mischief-maker.

The third is to John Brooke Brooke, advising him to wait before making any statement, because of the strong prejudice against him.
