(fols. 423-424) letter from Robert Oliphant to John Grant, confirming the fact that the contents of Kilgraston House had been settled on him as heir to his father's estate. Graham Speirs's opinion on the subject is quoted in the letter, 24 Mar 1840
(fols. 425-426) letter from [Sir] Francis Grant to his brother John Grant, about the ship sent by the British Government 'to cruise between Labuan and Sarawak', 21 Dec [1856]
(fols. 427-429) letter from Lucy Grant to her brother-in-law, John Brooke Brooke, about his pamphlet (see MSS. Pac. s. 90/3, folder 6), and the reactions to it of Miss Burdett Coutts, Mrs Brown, and the Bishop of London, [1863]
(fols. 430-432) carbon copy of a typed letter from Colonel Patrick Grant, son of Charles Grant, to C.D. Le Gros Clark, Kuching, about the latter's request (see MSS. Pac. s. 90 Vol. 13, fols. 116-117) to see the collection of C.19 Brooke correspondence which had been given by Colonel Grant to Hope Brooke and since his death in 1935 had been in the care of his widow Violet (a covering letter to her is attached). A copy of the letter was sent also to Commander Basil Brooke, RN [Hope Brooke's eldest son], who in 1975 presented the correspondence to Rhodes House Library, Oxford: it forms part of the present Collection, 10 Dec 1936.
