Comprises:
(fols. 1-117) Letters from Sir Charles to his daughter-in-law Gladys (Mrs Bertram Brooke) concerned chiefly with family matters, 22 Nov 1908-21 May 1917; many are undated or only partly dated, and the sequence is uncertain. Most were written in England, at his home, Chesterton House, Cirencester; the last eight are from Sarawak and mention the wartime activities of members of the family. The following letters are also included:
- (fols. 1-3) to his son Vyner, in Sarawak, about the Mission, matters relating to land speculation and cultivation, and the possibility of a new part-American company making Sarawak its headquarters (with copy), 22 Nov 1908
- (fols. 14-15) from Sir Edward Wallington, Private Secretary to the Queen, thanking Sir Charles for a present, 28 Aug 1912
- (fol. 20) to his son Bertram ('Adeh') about the Proclamation [of the establishment of the Sarawak State Advisory Council in London, see MSS. Pac. s. 83, Vols 4-9], 18 Nov 1912
- (fols. 50-54) two letters to Bertram, from Colombo and Sarawak, about having finished making his will; his son Harry, who had drawn on the Sarawak Treasury £10,000 over his salary; Chinese traders in Limbang, and the probable effect on the revenue; the large migration from Dutch territory into Sarawak because of light taxation; and plans for Chesterton House, 18 Apr, 17 Jun 1913.

- (fol. 126) copy of the Order of Service at Sir Charles's funeral in Cirencester, 21 May 1917
- (fols. 127-129) two letters from Emma Evelyn (written in her 88th year) to her great-niece Jean, 22 Jul and 5 Dec 1919.
