A few letters addressed to other people are included. Comprises:

(fols. 1-178) Manuscript letters, some fragmented, and typed copies, addressed almost entirely to Charles Johnson Brooke, 25 Jan-5 Dec 1868. They are about Sarawak affairs, politics and administration, trade, financial matters, coal mining, the production of Cinnabar and copper ore, with a report of the analysis of samples of Antimony Ores (fols. 17-18); the death in England on 11 Jun 1868 of Sir James Brooke, his Will and family matters connected with it, and the accession of Charles as Rajah. The chief correspondents are Arthur Crookshank, L.V. Helms, Agent of the Borneo Company Ltd, and W.H. Read, a Singapore merchant. Other correspondents include the following:

(fols. 183-219) Manuscript letters, some fragmented, addressed to Sir Charles Brooke, with typed copies or summaries of contents, 7 Jan 1869-31 Mar 1870. A memorandum signed by Arthur Crookshank, 'Depositions taken 29th Apr 1869' (fols. 189-192) is not included in the typescript. Other correspondents are:
