The main series of parliamentary briefs stopped after c. 1999, presumably as the result of a major restructuring of working practices within the Conservative Research Department. From about May 2002, a detailed Weekend Brief was produced instead, usually each Friday but with additional issues at local and general election times, and usually with a break during the Christmas recess. This summarised the main political issues of the week, listing the main 'Political points to make' as well as discussing the Labour and Liberal Democrats' lines, and included some sample hostile questions with which MPs and Party workers might be expected to contend. All of these new series to emerge at the beginning of the 21st century were produced electronically and intended to be disseminated quickly via email. Paper copies were routinely printed out by staff at Conservative Central Office (from 2006, Conservative Campaign Headquarters) and forwarded to the Conservative Party Archive. Since January 2011, electronic copy only has been preserved in the Archive.
