Typescript and holograph, containing working notes divided into sections marked 'Similes', 'Gags', 'Titles', 'Style', 'Notions' and 'Grab Bag'. Much of the material is copied from the earlier notebook, with revised versions of several of the longer notes, including (fols. 83-87) 'Twelve Notes on the Mystery Story,' 1948, a later version of MS. Chandler 1, fols. 41-49 (see also MS. Chandler 16, fols. 16-23). At (fols. 88-89) are notes on slang, 1949-1950, with (fol. 90) notes for two unwritten stories. Many leaves are blank. Selections from the notebook were published in MacShane, Notebooks.
